Check whether your solar installer is MCS certified.
MCS certification is one of the important credentials to check when considering domestic solar in the UK, but it is not the only thing that matters.
Installer or scheme details are mentioned.
Look up the current public register directly.
Make sure the contracting company matches.
What to check
- Check the installer on the MCS register
- Check RECC or equivalent consumer-code membership
- Make sure the company identity matches the quote
- Review deposit and installation-work protection
- Check the exact contracting company
Why MCS matters
MCS provides certification for low-carbon products and installers. For domestic solar, it is widely used as evidence of recognised installation standards and is relevant to export arrangements such as the Smart Export Guarantee.
Do not stop at one badge
Check the company named on your contract, not just a logo on a brochure. Consumer-code membership, warranty protection and clear contract information still matter.

Frequently asked questions
Does MCS certification guarantee a good installer?
No certification can guarantee future workmanship or service. It is an important credential to check alongside the rest of the proposal.
Where can I check MCS status?
MCS maintains a public Find an Installer service on its official website.
We keep a clear line between what a quote says, what can be calculated and what still needs checking. We do not accept payment from installers to change the outcome of a quote check.
